Captcha in Public/Open Wiki Edit

hello,

i try to setup a public and community wiki for people, who are new in the country with basic infos (where to look up salarys, pension funds etc.). Idea is that users can edit and create pages without need to register. to prevent that the wiki get messed up, I am thinking about to use the follow extension, where changes have to be approved: https://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Proposal%20Application

the problem is that there i see no captcha option for the edit, create or translate pages. I fear that it gets filled up with spam very quickly. the captcha seems only to work in the registration page or in the comments.

Is there any way to insert a captcha in these pages and if yes how to do it?

many thanks

Hi, if I were you, I’d look into either:

Note that I think that they will require an account ATM but the goal of the Change Request extension is to not require that in the near future.

Regarding captcha, you’d need to do some development to add one if the extension you wish to use doesn’t support it. Feel free to jump on the xwiki matrix chat if you want to discuss that.

Thanks

hello and thanks for your answer.

I really like the change request extension and would love to see a option without logging in.

unfortunately my programming skills seem not enough to develope a solution for the captcha. however, i will discuss it with some other people who are better in programming and see if they can help out with such a project

Hi,

I’m currently the main developer for Change request extension. Right now the extension should work with guest users without any other development, but there’s indeed no captcha required for guest users. For info I created an improvment ticket to have this feature: Loading...

Hello surli and thanks for your quick response!

some sort of a captcha would be awesome, i fear that that a wiki gets flooded with spam otherwise
thank you so far - I will discuss it with the fellows and see if someone can collaborate with development of the extension
