Deleted Pages - Any automatic reaping process?

I didn’t see anything that explicitly stated this on the xwiki.org state, so could someone confirm that deleted pages remain untouched unless acted upon by users/admins and that there is nothing like an automatic reaping process that would permanently delete them behind the scenes after a certain x amount of time nor when one, say, performs updates to xwiki itself.
