Help upgrading from 8.1 to latest

Hi
I’m trying to upgrade from 8.1 to current.
I’ve followed the upgrade guide. Part 1, method 1a went fine.

However, I’m stuggling with Part 2 (install the new UI).
What are the instructions for running DW. If it’s to update/upgrade a WAR file. Where do I download this and then where do I put it?

There’s nothing to do. When you start XWiki, the DW will appear (if you’re logged in with admin rights).

Hi vmassol

I’ve deleted the status.xml, restarted the wiki and I’m still seeing the original 8.1 UI.
In the onscreen error logs I do get this error:

What can you suggest?

Are you logged with a user having admin rights?

Not a problem. It’s just a deprecation warning.

Yes, I was logged in as Admin.
Although the error may not be a problem, I was still getting the old UI.

Ok, so I gave up on the upgrade path, too painful.
I installed from scratch and now getting “failed to extract entity resource reference from url”.
I’m now done with this product. Its a shame, but it’s just not mature enough.

I’m sorry about your experience @mannivw. It would be great if you could just stay a few more hours with us to solve your last issue as otherwise we won’t be able to improve the product further :slight_smile: Would you mind pasting the full stack trace you’re getting, the reason for the error is at the bottom of it and I’m pretty sure it’s very easy to solve (it’s usually an error in your DB setup).
