I’m trying to migrate the content from an old xwiki install (version 9) onto a newer machine running Xwiki 15 and I’ve been having a lot of issues. The .xar format seems to have changed a lot in that time and the importer won’t parse the .xar.
I tried manually creating the packages.xml file which got xwiki15 to recognize the pages and this worked for some of the text on the pages and attachments, but none of the images. The only two options I see for converting the content is:
Install an intermediate xwiki version (maybe 11 or 12) and try to do a 2 step migration
Manually recreate the 100 or so pages
Have any of you dealt with this sort of problem? Are there any alternatives?
The XAR format did not change that much and a XAR exported in 9.x should definitely be imported just fine in recent versions. Do you have an example of XAR exported with the standard export that you cannot parse ?
The upgrade you linked didn’t work for me(unfortunately this was a glassfish install with HSQLDB), but the XAR output option is working now. Trying to import the full .xar was stuck with a spinning icon after upload, but if I deleted all of the extensions & other non-user generated pages everything imported cleanly (even attachments).
I started with just the FAQ pages as a trial and then I was able to import the rest of the wiki.
