But I doubt my employer would agree that I do more than bringing suggestions, which don’t take long to write, during work hours.
Maybe would I do it later in the coming months in case I decide to install and use XWiki for a benevolent project. (No promise, though, as I am planning to start a new course).
You could ask your employer how much time or money XWiki makes it win and how much it’s willing to pay back to help it continue to progress and grow (Note: I have no idea if your employer is already contributing something to the XWiki project through sponsorship, pro support subscription, or anything else. Maybe it is and in which case I thank it for that!).
I doubt that spending 1 hour of your time to improve the doc would be much though…
It’s for sure a lot less than the many hours that have been spent by users or developers to respond to your questions (see https://forum.xwiki.org/search?q=%40jmarkoll) and your employer or you didn’t pay for this support, did you?
Open source is not free. Someone got to pay for everything. It works when users contribute back.
Hello,
for the time being, the tests cost many hours of my time and don’t bring any income to the company. However, it brings something to me, as an apprentice.
I know the company I work in is willing to suscribe to a plan, once the migration will indeed be decided. And the results of the tests I am brought to perform are the basis for the decision to come.
We yet have to see effective results, with the realtime collaboration editing which seem to still get a force action to be done, and a few other things which need solutions.
The questions I ask on the forum : are the ones the commercial of the XWiki edition company does not have the know how to answer.
They are in themselves also a form of contribution, for two reasons : I have learned long ago how to ask questions (as per Eric S. Raymond Smart Questions text), and because the answers can then help others.
Most questions I ask on the forum takes quite some time to draft, because I want to make them as precise as possible, always in context.
I had a few questions I didn’t need to ask either, as I found answers for them already available on the forum.
While I’m at it, I thank you sincerely for your great work, for your help, suggestions, and pointers.
I did a separate post on this topic, as per @ rjakse request on this topic
I assumed you were suggesting a feature for XWiki with this fixed header thing. It is a good idea.
I’m not convinced by a custom solution just for this specific table, this should be addressed in the product if we want this. In the meantime, I’m not sure how this should be addressed, splitting the table into categories as @vmassol suggested could be a good solution.
Thanks for taking your time to share your feedback, very appreciated!
