I would like to request a new repository and jira project named simply python which goal is to provide various tools on top of GraalPy (for now, but could be another implementation in the future, which is why I prefer to keep it generic).
The first version will provide:
- various components to manipulate python scripts and packages
- a
{{python3}}macro (not named “python”, to not collide with the current Python 2 based{{python}}macro, currently embedded in XS)
But the plan is also to, later:
- once the standard code macro is modified to make easier to provide alternative default highlighters
- add one which rely on the latest version of Pygments (it’s actually already implemented in a branch of xwiki-platform, but given the size of GraalPy it was decided to not replace the current Jython based and put it only on contrib instead)
- move the Jython based
{{python}}macro from xwiki-platform to this project new project
I’m also hesitating to move GitHub - xwiki-contrib/repository-pypi: XWiki Extensions Repository handler for http://pypi.python.org/ · GitHub to this new project, but not sure yet since they will have very different lifecycles (repository-pypi mostly focusing on Pypi server API evolution, and the new one mainly focusing on GrallVM Polyglot/GraalPy evolution).
