Pages in Markdown

I am testing markdown in a page (XWiki v15.10.12).

I am being testing in a new test page in the sandbox, so no previous content has been in that page.

I would like to know what this window means exactly? →

Is it related to pages already having some content in it? If so, in a page with some content, where we would not modify content but add content, using markdown, should we choose Yes, or No ?

Additionnally, is do you know of a documentation presenting what differs between the 4 following choices of syntax?

Now sometimes the doc is a bit light, for example for https://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Confluence/Syntax%20XHTML/
