Hello everyone! Thanks for all the feedback and discussions so far.
Since there are different views regarding the future of the drag and drop feature, the previews, and the Live Data approach, I suggest we split this proposal in two so we can move on with immediate improvements.
Adapted Proposal
I propose we focus on the structural cleanup and visual upgrades, keeping the current WYSIWYG layout and mechanics intact. This includes:
- Merging the “Panel Layout” and “Panel List” tabs.
- Adding radio buttons for accessibility on the layout selector.
- Optimizing the width selectors (side-by-side on desktop).
- Hiding the manual text inputs under an Advanced Configuration link (placed near the Save button).
- Applying the cleaner UI for the panel blocks, adding the contextual controls on hover to reduce visual clutter.
We will keep the drag and drop, the previews, and the classic page layout exactly as they function today to address concerns about retaining the intuitive WYSIWYG feel.
For a future proposal
We tackle the deeper UX changes, such as reevaluating the Drag & Drop vs. Live Data for panel addition (as suggested by @CharpentierLucas and @mflorea) and the future of panel previews.
If we agree on this scope for the proposal, I will update the mockups one last time to reflect this middle ground and we can close this proposal. WDYT?
