Publication Workflow Application: Mail Notifications

Hi all,

Again a question to those of you using or working on the Publication Workflow Application:

According to the documentation, notification mails should be sent to e.g. publishers if a page was submitted to validation.

However, this does not seem to be the case for me - I didn’t get any notification even after some days over the weekend.

The workflow in questions is the “shortened” variant without separate moderation.

XWiki version is 17.10.13 on Debian 13 “Trixie”, and mail sending generally works fine (e.g. the regular daily notification emails).

I could not find any information on the documentation page about extra steps that have to be taken to enable the validation request mails.

Any hints?

Hi @GOhrner,

I just tested some cases with the latest version of the Workflow application and I received the emails.
If other emails are sent (also Share by email feature), then I would check what does the shortened variant implies, to be sure that the email sending process was not also shortened.

These emails are sent immediately by the Publication Workflow Application and do not depend on the notification frequency configured in XWiki. On my system, they arrived within two to three minutes, although the actual delivery time may vary depending on the mail server configuration, the email queue, and other messages being processed by the wiki.

As shown in the following screenshots, email notifications are sent in all the documented cases, although the wording in the emails differs slightly from the documentation.
