While trying to clean up our internal xwiki pages, an unfortunate attempt was made to relocate one of the root directory menu options - the one at the bottom, called “Xwiki” (with the user profiles). This action was only partly completed, some parts of xwiki were moved others did not and the system broke down. Admin and other user profiles were removed/moved/deleted. We were able to create a superuser, to get back into the system/database. But is there any way to recreate xwiki from just before this erroneous relocation. Our last backup was in September, so there is a lot of changes that were lost. We can probably check each log and “manually” repair each one, but this will be very time consuming. Any help to minimize the time or any other hints to get back our lost changes will be appreciated. PS. I would assume only renaming of this root directory would also cause similar problems.
I’m curious to understand how you came to want to do this since I’d like to avoid users from doing that in the first place, to minimize problems. Could you explain a bit your situtation?
Note that the XWiki.WebHome space is hidden in the Navigation menu by default so it shouldn’t appear.
Also when trying to move it, you should have some warnings list pages and extensions that will be broken by doing so. Does it mean you still carried on even after seeing this warning?
What version of XWiki are you on? (It’s possible you’re on some oldish version that doesn’t have these 2 protections).
Thank you, unfortunately it looks like the automatic restore process during the move action was stopped midterm (for some reason?), and when I tried the document trash bin restore, it did not do anything……Deleted pages is empty.
