Reminder about the importance of upgrading your XWiki instances

Hello everyone,

this post is a gentle reminder on the importance for any administrator of XWiki instances to regularly upgrade your instances of XWiki. Ideally you should always use current LTS or stable version of XWiki.

The reason for regularly upgrading is that, besides the new features and bug fixes it would bring, it would also protect you against some security vulnerabilities. We’re always fixing new security issues (even if it’s not immediately visible because of our embargo to not disclose them immediately), but we’re also constantly upgrading XWiki’s libraries which on their side are also fixing some security issues.

I’m bringing this up today because we’re on the middle of a vote for disclosing some old security issues, so the people that are using old versions of XWiki needs to be aware that a bunch of security issues will become public in a few weeks.

Thanks.
