Shouldn't XWIKI-19922 show up in 14.5 release page regressions list?

Several XWiki release pages comprehend a list of issues found after the release, which I look at before deciding to update our instance.

It’s a while that, seeing no regressions have been listed for 14.5 ( https://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/Data/XWiki/14.5 ), I want to find the time to do the upgrade.

But roaming around Jira I stumbled upon [XWIKI-19922] Export to PDF doesn't work on Windows - XWiki.org JIRA whose Affects Version/s lists 14.4.2 and 14.5

Shouldn’t that bug be listed in the release page?

Hi,

thanks for the notice.

So the short answer is no it shouldn’t be listed as a regression bug as you might have seen in error box like in https://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/Data/XWiki/14.4/. The reason is that the bug in [XWIKI-19922] Export to PDF doesn't work on Windows - XWiki.org JIRA concerns the new feature introduced in 14.5 and mentioned there: https://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/Data/XWiki/14.5#HDocker-basedMulti-pagePDFExport. So basically it’s not a regression since it just didn’t exist before.

Now maybe the jira ticket title might be rephrased since we might think it concerns the old PDF export feature.

I see, makes sense since those are regressions only. I have no idea, I guess that if a newly introducted feature has a bug that prevents its usage, it may be an interesting information to be readily available.
Anyway, back to the topic, your post answers my question.

There are interesting new features of that application in the latest release, which I recently installed on 14.2.1 where it only had client side PDF generation, so yes after a quick read I thought I could not use the PDF export anymore from a Windows browser. But I guess that could have easily been sorted out with a more in-depth reading.

I think this information should be available on PDF Export Application (XWiki.org).

I’ve just added a History section at PDF Export Application (XWiki.org)

Thanks

That issue is getting too much attention  but it’s true that this thread began from it.

Anyway, I’m starting from the Known issues section, focusing on those where that version is in Affects Version/s:, i.e.:
https://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-19922?jql=category%20%3D%2010000%20AND%20issuetype%20%3D%20Bug%20AND%20resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20and%20affectedVersion%20in%20(%2014.5)%20%20ORDER%20BY%20updated%20DESC

And that’s enough for me to get a grasp at whether upgrading will be fine or not :slightly_smiling_face:
