I can turn on the history page element for one page at a time, but if I have hundreds of individual entries in a space, how can I turn it on for the entire space?

In order to show/hide the page history for all entries of a specific space you need to administer your space (nested page) and access the Look & feel >> Presentation section and modifiy the SHOW PAGE HISTORY option.
