What about moving edit and menu buttons lower to free up space for the title?

I seldom have pages with long titles (ok, they’re ofter poorly titled  ) that end up on two lines, but was wondering about leaving all the horizontal space of the page for the title by moving the Edit, Create, etc. buttons within the same space occupied by the Last modified … section.

What do you think?
I didn’t manage to do any layout test, so I have no idea how this would effectively end up.

There is a related issue XWIKI-13999 for which I even created a quick implementation proposal with which I’m not quite happy yet which is why we haven’t applied it yet - but there are some instructions if you want to apply it manually. If you have any feedback on that, feel free to let us know. Regarding your proposal, I think a problem could be that line height of the two elements is quite different.

Nice!

Hmmm, I tried to search that page you edited in the PR, but didn’t find any contentheader or similar among the wiki pages in our instance - and yes I enabled seeing hidden pages.

Is it something that can only be changed within the sources?

That file is a file system template. However, in this comment I explain how to test the changes without modifying any HTML and just adding a style sheet extension. If you apply this to your wiki, make sure you remove it again after upgrading to a version of XWiki that contains the fix.

I see.

Yep, seen the CSS, thanks. But I wanted to play a little more with the layout, that’s why I was looking for the page. No problem, however.

At least in a demo instance, the file can be found and edited in webapps/xwiki/skins/flamingo/contentheader.vm. Alternatively, the template contentheader.vm can be overridden using the skin application.
