Wiki generates appropriate UNC path but link doesn't do anything

I’m trying to make a UNC path, as a test, so I can roll this out to users.
I tried using
unc:C:\Users\somewhere\something.txt

and it looks like it makes a good path… I think?

but if you click it, it thinks about it and then nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

Maybe verify that your browser’s security feature has been turned on to support it.

Sorry, which security feature?
I’m able to use local filesytem paths to view files with all my browsers.
