WYSWIG editor broken after migration/upgrade

Hi, I had a too old installation online, not upgraded for long, so i made a fresh install, dumped the old database and tried to restore it on the new instance. It seemed to globally work, i got all the content back, but the wyswig editor doesn’t work, as described in WYSIWYG editor stopped working after update

I figured out that the database content was in cause, as if i restore the base in the post-install state, the editor works fine. I suspect something related to xwikiproperties table, but am not sure.

Would anyone have a clue about what i should search in the database? I’m not familiar with xwiki’s database structure. I’ve tried partial/incremental restorations (one table after another) but i suppose some tables can’t be useful on their own.

Apparently, the wiki doesn’t find the webjar urls such as: https://xwiki.domain.tld/xwiki/webjars/wiki%3Axwiki/application-ckeditor-webjar/plugins/xwiki-resource/resourcePicker.bundle.min.js

which don’t seem to be static resources (not in the http server directories). I suppose some parameter in the database tells the wiki where to fetch these resources.

Hello xwiki experts !
I work on the same wiki as @emenard . In order to refine the diagnosis, we must say that not only do we have a problem using the wysisyg editor, but also with commenting, clicking on the notification icon,… whereas some other functions (all user administration functions) are working ok. Wiki modification of pages is working, with an error message “Syntax highlingting and/or Autocompletion failed to load”. Obviously the wiki cannot be used anymore as it is.

To help debug this, it might help to know which version you tried upgrading from, and which to, as well as the database you were using.

It’s very unlikely unless you kept your previous xwiki.cfg, but there’s a possibility the database migrations might be off, see https://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/documentation/xs/admin/upgrade/distribution/database-upgrade/

Depending on what you want to keep from your instance, it’s also possible a XAR export/reimport might be enough for your use-case (while the database upgrade should definitely work, starting with a fresh one might be a faster way than trying to debug it). Note that the “Syntax highlighting” error specifically might also be due to Loading... (you can check your installed version of the codemirror extension, from the extension manager, clicking “Installed extensions” in the dropdown menu).

About the version, i’m not sure, i’ll try to find the information.

The old database contains 1138000 in the field XWV_VERSION of the table xwikidbversion.

I suppose it means version 11.3.8 It was on a debian 9.13 server, with mysql (maybe mariadb, but on this system, /usr/bin/mariadb is a link to /usr/bin/mysql).

I’m trying to restore it on a debian 13.7, in a xwiki 18.0.7 regarding to home page (in the database: XWV_VERSION=180600000).

In my /etc/xwiki/xwiki.cfg, i have xwiki.store.migration=1

I have a full backup of the filesystem of the original server. I’ll try to restore it in a vm to build a xar export file.

I’ve already tried to let xwiki auto upgrade the base, but i suppose the versions gap is too big, and it fails (i tried removing the DATABASECHANGELOG and DATABASECHANGELOGLOCK tables and restarting tomcat).

I’ll let you know my attempts and eventual progress.
