I can not remove a page from the navigation tree anymore, even when the page is deleted or tagged as hidden.
I have deleted the page by Manage->Delete.
Afterthat the page is shown as deleted (no contents).
I can create a new version or rollback to the old (deleted) version.
I have created a new page with the same name over the old one. Deleted it. No change.
The page is still listed in the navigation tree.
I have also removed the page from recycle bin.
I am using demo.xwiki.com (currently version Xwiki 9.7).
What I have not tried is making a xar backup, delete the parent page and restore everything without the specific sub-space. I really see this as last chance.
Additional Info:
The ‘deleted page’ is also shown in other space trees not only in the tree of the navigator.
The page is also shown when I deny the access for myself by using the admin account.
The removal of other pages within the same space have worked and is still working.
No change when clearing the (Chrome) browser cache or restarting the browser.
No special characters inside the page name (only ‘-’ and ‘_’), deleting other pages with same naming scheme has worked
Are there any suggestions what I can do to get rid of this “not entirely deleted” page in the navigation tree (on the left side)?
Does the “deleted” page have child nodes in the tree? If you click on the link in the tree does it take you to the deleted page? Do you have multilingual activated in the administration? If you recreate the page and then export it as XAR, is the generated XAR containing a single page or multiple pages?
Does the “deleted” page have child nodes in the tree?
Yes, there had been childs.
After 1 day and several removal tries there are only WebHome and WebPreferences left.
If you click on the link in the tree does it take you to the deleted page?
Yes, I can create a new version or restore the old one.
Do you have multilingual activated in the administration?
No.
If you recreate the page and then export it as XAR, is the generated XAR containing a single page or multiple pages?
One page with WebHome and WebPreferences as child.
There is also the message when deleting ‘ Affect children (1)’.
And when restoring using xar.
2 Page(s) installed
0 Page(s) skipped
0 Page(s) with error
I am not sure if the two pages referenced are WebHome and WebPreferences.
No change when I make a backup of the page I want to delete with xar, delete the page, restore the space by xar, delete it again.
The page is still listed in the navigation bar and hiding the page is also non working.
Are there any low level actions I can try on the hosted Xwiki (without root access)?
And did you check this option when you deleted the page? Because if you didn’t then the WebPreferences page is not deleted and thus the tree is forced to show the “deleted” parent in order to be able to access the “orphan” child.
Generally speaking, when you delete a page without its children then the tree will continue to show the “deleted” page so that you can navigate to the orphan child pages.
I have checked that there are no objects within the spaceA.
Deleting the top folder (spaceA) with all children does not remove the subspace(page) within the navigation tree.
If I create new pages/spaces within spaceA I can remove them and they dissapear from the navigation tree.
