The need for Subwiki "join" and access rights

Hi,

after install and play the same question like in Why join a wiki, when the permissions are independient? came up. What is the need for “join” a wiki when all is controlled via the rights management? As the creator of this topic wrote: there is no documentation about “join” and why and interacting with access rights and groups.

Is this simply an old behavior? This really confuses me.

Same question and it really makes me crazy. I tried lot’s of settings and users are still not able to access wiki even if they have a right permissions.It would be nice to have an opportunity to switch it off.
